Southwest
is home to a little over 68,000 residents who take pride
in its neighborhood with its rich history and diverse
community which is why we offer as many services and
resources available to post online.

With
renewed economic development in the Southwest community
we'll see in the upcoming years:
- 14
acres of waterfront parks, promenades and plazas --
three times the existing amount including a Market
Square adjacent to the Fish Wharf and a Cultural Park
at the end of M Street, SW near Arena Stage
- a
400-450 room hotel
- more
than 800 new housing units, with a target of 20 percent
affordable to low-income families
- 2,000
parking spaces
- 200,000
sq ft of cultural and non-profit space
- 300,000
sq ft of commercial space, including shops and restaurants
The
economic impact this will have on the Southwest community
and Washington, DC area as a whole will be:
- 3,000
construction jobs
- 1,500
permanent jobs
- $2
million in one-time taxes during construction and
- $9
million in annual tax revenue
